Haakon Turns 1 | Bring on the Balloons!
{First birthday portraits}

My little buddy Haakon was back in the studio last weekend. I feel so blessed that this is what I get to do for a living. I absolutely love what I do. I even love all the crazy babbling, jumping, beeping, and bear tossing (you heard me. . . teddy bear tossing) . . .that goes on behind the scenes to make this little guy giggle. Life is good. Happy Birthday Haakon!

This first photo is one of my absolute favorites. I love how beautifully innocent he is. Pure and simple. I have a feeling this one will end up on my studio wall.

. . . and what better way to celebrate being one than with some birthday balloons??? Perfect!

Andrew & Andrea
{Winter Engagement Photos}

What could be more lovely than the warmth of a couple in love on a cold winter’s day? . . . Nothing!

I’ve been talking with and emailing Andrea for months now and so it was wonderful to finally get to meet her and her fiance Andrew. It was pretty cold outside, but the snow was beautiful, so we decided to venture out for a while. Our cats took this opportunity to introduce themselves. Fortunately they both love cats. One of the kitties even made the blog. Here are a few of my very favorites from our session.

WILD PINK
{Lanesboro Class Play 2013}

The Lanesboro High School under the direction of Krissy Overland put on three hilarious performances of “Wild Pink” this weekend. Everyone involved did a really amazing job, from sound & lights, and all the behind the scenes work to the actors on the stage. Well done Lanesboro! Wonderful Winter:
time to plan for the coming year!

I have a confession to make. I haven’t always loved January & February. In fact, I have often-times found myself wishing I was anywhere else during the cold, snow months of hard winter that Minnesota often gives us. That changed last year. Now, January, February & March are three of my favorite months, at least where my business is concerned. These are the months where I get to work on what I want to improve for the coming year.

I have to say, I am absolutely thrilled with all the new year has in store. I have seen more amazing products, beautiful posing ideas and just plain cool photography stuff than I know what to do with. I have new image boxes, wood prints ~ YES! Beautiful images printed directly on wood! ~ and SOOOO much more. Here are just a few of these amazing items on display in the studio.

Check out the new ladder shelves! Finally, I have a place to put all of the accordion-mini albums, ornaments, and framed gift prints.

One of my other goals during this quiet season is to really whip this wonderful building of mine into shape. The changing room is a great space but is in need of a facelift. I have a fantastic plan in place & will show you images (one by one) of what’s happening in there as things go up.

For phase one I’ve found and installed beautiful new curtains:

When everything is in place I’ll do the big reveal & you’ll all be able to see how fantastic this space has become. I really can’t wait.

If you can’t tell already, I think it’s going to be a pretty amazing year. I look forward to seeing all of you soon.

Senior Photo Collages
{Southeast MN Senior Portraits}

It has been a privilege over the past 6 months or so to work with so many great high school seniors. I really enjoy getting to know each of them so much better. One of my favorite pieces to work on for each senior is a photo collage. This is the type of piece that can really be just about the senior and what it is that moves them. I’ve just finished a 10×20 collage for Kirsten. She is a very happy young woman and has definitely gotten bit by the travel bug. She toured Europe last summer playing her saxophone and I do believe she would go back tomorrow if it were an option. I think some of that comes through in this collage:

Soooo, Class of 2014 . . . it’s time to start thinking about what defines you. Think on it for the next few months & then let help you create something truly special and beautiful for you to enjoy for years to come.

Brett & Erin’s Sneak Peek Previews
{Southern MN Family Portraits}

It isn’t every day I get to photograph members of my extended family, this was that day. My cousin Brett and his wife Erin were up from Austin, Texas over Thanksgiving and made the time to come to the studio. I am so incredibly glad they did. Not only did I get some pictures I really like of their family, I also got to know their kiddos better. Usually our family gatherings are so chaotic that at best we get a few minutes with each wonderful child. I got a full hour with these two amazing kids and am so happy that I did. Oh ya, and it was great to get some undivided time with Brett & Erin too. Here are a few of the photos from this session.

First I let Big Brother Charlie play a little. . .

There were a few images I really wanted to try while Brett & Erin were in studio. This is by far one of my favorites from the day. I just love the family bond that you can so obviously see here.

Abby’s 8 month old photos

Well, I am thrilled to say that I have (finally) gotten to meet little Abby! Mamie & I have been trying to make this work for months, but with them in the Washington D.C. area and me here it just hadn’t worked out before now. Abby is absolutely wonderful. So full of little baby giggles! Here are a few of my very favorites. . . but there are so many more.

8 months old and already So much personality. Love it!

Haakon’s 9 months old!
{Southern MN baby portraits}

I was thrilled to have little Haakon back in front of my camera. I had photographed him and his family during the Marigold Day’s parade in St. Charles earlier this year. They were making the trip back to Minnesota for the Thanksgiving holiday and wondered if I could squeeze them in. Absolutely! I think they are officially my family who has traveled the furthest this year having come all the way from El Paso, Texas. I went through the photos several times before finally deciding on my favorites. I have so many more to share with you soon, but here are my top pics.

This last one might just be my absolute favorite. He is just so innocent & sweet.

Mason {10 days old}

What could be better than meeting a brand new baby? Almost nothing. Little Mason was born just 10 days ago and I was so excited to get to meet him yesterday. Thank you for bring him Tanya. I just love how that adorable hat fit him! Here are just a few of my favorites.

Paula & Rob’s Wedding in Lanesboro
{Southern MN Destination Wedding}

I first spoke with Paula just a few weeks ago. Her and her fiance were looking for a destination location to have a wedding. They had planned on getting married for quite a while, but everything had finally come together & there were looking for a photographer. I had that Friday open (thankfully!) and was excited to work with them for some beautiful wedding images. They had a lovely, simple service at Stone Mill Hotel & Suites.

We were also able to take advantage of the wonderful locations around Lanesboro for some gorgeous outdoor photography. Thankfully the weather was amazing, 60 degrees in mid November!

Now Paula & Rob are absolutely a blast & were up for all sorts of fun ideas. Rob, in particular was always looking around the corner to see what we might be able to find. Because of their willingness to “play” we were able to get some additional pictures that are my very, very favorite. I hope you like these last two as much as I do.
