I received a very excited email a couple of months ago from Mamie. “I’m getting married!” . . . “and I’d love it if you would be our photographer.” I think I was almost as excited as she was. I have known Mamie for several years and happen to think she is terrific. It was my pleasure to get to be a part of her day. Since Mamie lives out east (in the Washington D.C. area) we communicated over phone lines and emails in the months leading up to the wedding. Last Saturday the big day finally arrived and it was a real treat.

When you plan a wedding in January in Minnesota you envision blizzards, ice, and difficult travel conditions. That, however, is not anywhere near what we got last weekend. The ceremony was held at St. Columban’s Catholic Church in Preston, MN and the day was gorgeous without so much as a snowflake. Temperatures were in the 40′s! Amazing. As Father Tom said in their service, “This marriage must truly be meant to be.” I couldn’t agree more.

I have known  Amy forever. She’s a second cousin and I remember having a great time playing with her at family events when I was a child, so I was thrilled when she asked me to take on her wedding photography. What a great day it was, Amy and Mike really know how put on a wedding. The details were stunning. Mike, Amy and Zachary make a beautiful new family and Amy was one amazing looking bride. I am posting a lot of pictures with this entry, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

    Mike anxiously awaited his bride.

I love it when things like this present themselves. We were almost done with formal indoor  photography for the day when I just happened to look up and notice the beautiful colors on the stone wall in the sanctuary. The stain glass windows were add a magical kind of beauty. So, I got Mike and Amy back up for just a few more photos.

A hundred years from now kids in school will be learning about the visionary that transformed technology at the turn of the last century. His name is Steve Jobs and his innovation and ability to move us into the future will be missed tremendously.

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” ~ Steve Jobs~

Tanya emailed me a while ago and asked if I would want to take Sawyers 2 year old pictures. He had turned 2 a while ago and she wanted them taken as soon as we could. I’d met Tanya and Abe three years ago before Sawyer was around and was so excited to get to meet him. Early last Saturday morning I went out to their family farm near Lanesboro and got to meet their wonderful little man. Sawyer is a wonderful little boy, so energetic and curious. We took a tour around the entire farm. . . I got to see all the cool tractors, cows, and sheds . . . all with Sawyer running at full speed. It was great. Once I’d gotten the grand tour we settled in for a few family photos. Here are a few of my favorites of this handsome little guy.

Over 600 bicylists, their friends and family are now in Lanesboro, MN for the night. They will venture on their way in the morning. Despite downpoors and thunder these folks all made it to town. They are on a mission to rid the world of Multiple Sclerosis (MS) . . . and to get very fit in the process. This first image (with the lady with tiger ears and the group picture) is from the group The Kreb Cycle. Apparently they have raised of $35,000! Congratulations on such tremendous fundraising. Have a safe trip tomorrow.

A couple of nights ago I spent some time with Marv & Carol, owners of Hillcrest Hideaway in Lanesboro, Minnesota getting some gorgeous night shots of their Bed & Breakfast. I love the process of lighting a house and then waiting for that perfect moment of the evening to get just the right shot. I think this is a great way to showcase the warmth of a property.

The Model T Ford Club International came to Lanesboro, Minnesota today. It was really something to see. Right around 250 Model T’s were in town. It was very neat to be able to see the great variety of vehicles and the care that has been put into the restoration of many of them. Thanks for coming to town! This just isn’t something you see every day. It was hard to pick and choose, but here are the photos I like the best. Enjoy!
