It was my absolute pleasure to get outside two weekends ago and photograph the Egan (Kingsley) family. It was one of the few days this spring that has been truly beautiful. The trees were all budding, the sun was shining and everything smelled like spring. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

My little buddy Haakon was back in the studio last weekend.  I feel so blessed that this is what I get to do for a living.  I absolutely love what I do.  I even love all the crazy babbling, jumping, beeping, and bear tossing (you heard me. . . teddy bear tossing) . . .that goes on behind the scenes to make this little guy giggle.  Life is good.  Happy Birthday Haakon!

This first photo is one of my absolute favorites.  I love how beautifully innocent he is.  Pure and simple.  I have a feeling this one will end up on my studio wall.

It isn’t every day I get to photograph members of my extended family, this was that day. My cousin Brett and his wife Erin were up from Austin, Texas over Thanksgiving and made the time to come to the studio.  I am so incredibly glad they did.  Not only did I get some pictures I really like of their family, I also got to know their kiddos better.  Usually our family gatherings are so chaotic that at best we get a few minutes with each wonderful child.  I got a full hour with these two amazing kids and am so happy that I did.  Oh ya, and it was great to get some undivided time with Brett & Erin too.  :)    Here are a few of the photos from this session.

First I let Big Brother Charlie play a little. . .

There were a few images I really wanted to try while Brett & Erin were in studio. This is by far one of my favorites from the day. I just love the family bond that you can so obviously see here.

These last two photos were something I really wanted to try out.  What do you think?

Well, I am thrilled to say that I have (finally) gotten to meet little Abby!  Mamie & I have been trying to make this work for months, but with them in the Washington D.C. area and me here it just hadn’t worked out before now.  Abby is absolutely wonderful. So full of little baby giggles! Here are a few of my very favorites. . . but there are so many more.

8 months old and already So much personality. Love it!

I was thrilled to have little Haakon back in front of my camera.  I had photographed him and his family during the Marigold Day’s parade in St. Charles earlier this year.  They were making the trip back to Minnesota for the Thanksgiving holiday and wondered if I could squeeze them in.  Absolutely!  I think they are officially my family who has traveled the furthest this year having come all the way from El Paso, Texas.  I went through the photos several times before finally deciding on my favorites. I have so many more to share with you soon, but here are my top pics.

I treasure the opportunity to work with children.  There is a very unique type of joy that comes from getting to know little ones at an early age.  I can’t help but envision who they will become.  Charity, Grace, and Liberty came to the studio a few days ago and I really enjoyed having them here.  The twins are pretty shy in new settings, but since I have photographed them before and have spent some time getting to know them they were very comfortable here.  It also helped that mom was sitting very close (just off screen in almost all the photos).

I love working with large families.  The energy they share as a group is invigorating.  I also love seeing how different families care for one another.  The Lynch family embodied has a wonderful energy and zest for life.  It was a treat to photograph them last week.  There were so many great photos that it was hard to narrow it down, but here are a few of my favorites.

It is a privilege to be asked to photograph a family during special events, so I felt honored to meet Eugene and Carol.  They were celebrating their 50th Wedding Anniversary with a family reunion at Cedar Valley Resort, a beautiful retreat location in Whalan, MN.  Their family looked cool and refreshed even in the scorching heat we were having at the time.  They had thought that they would get a break from their normal Texas heat while in Minnesota, but I guess they brought it with them.  Thank you for having me work with your family.  It was great to meet all of you.  Here are just a few of my favorites.  I will have the rest for you very soon.

With their youngest heading off to college in the fall Pat decided to set up a family photo shoot.  I’m so glad she did!  We went out on the family farm near Chatfield, Minnesota and got some great casual family photos.  With curious cows behind me we started our photo shoot.  It was fun to see the family laughing and chasing away the pesky bugs that were flying around.  At the end of the day we had some great pictures and fun memories.  Here are a couple of my favorites.

You know, some times I really enjoy the non-traditional print sizes. The image below is 30″x 15″ at full size & I just love it.

Thanks again for having me out to the farm.  I look forward to sharing the rest of your images with you soon.

One of the best parts of my job is all the beautiful little children I get to “play” with every day.  Yesterday I had the pleasure of playing with Charity, Grace, and Liberty on their farm in rural Harmony, Minnesota. What a treat! Charity and Grace are 2 1/2 and Liberty just turned 1 and they are all three absolutely delightful. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Now, near the end of our session we had planned on taking a few 1st birthday photos of Liberty.  Liberty had her own plans and fell asleep just as we were getting ready to start taking those images.  This was absolutely a blessing in disguise.  We were able to take some wonderful images of her sleeping in their back yard.  In fact, the pictures we got after Liberty fell asleep are some of my very favorite images I’ve taken over the past several months.  Below is my very favorite from that part of our session. Enjoy!
