Alison & Bradley were featured today in the special Wedding Guide for the Bluff Country Newspaper Group. They were married on September 3rd of this year at Christ Lutheran Church in Preston, Minnesota with the reception out on Alison’s family farm. They were an absolutely lovely couple to work with.

Mamie & Chris’s Wedding
{St. Columban’s Church, Preston, MN}

I received a very excited email a couple of months ago from Mamie. “I’m getting married!” . . . “and I’d love it if you would be our photographer.” I think I was almost as excited as she was. I have known Mamie for several years and happen to think she is terrific. It was my pleasure to get to be a part of her day. Since Mamie lives out east (in the Washington D.C. area) we communicated over phone lines and emails in the months leading up to the wedding. Last Saturday the big day finally arrived and it was a real treat.

When you plan a wedding in January in Minnesota you envision blizzards, ice, and difficult travel conditions. That, however, is not anywhere near what we got last weekend. The ceremony was held at St. Columban’s Catholic Church in Preston, MN and the day was gorgeous without so much as a snowflake. Temperatures were in the 40′s! Amazing. As Father Tom said in their service, “This marriage must truly be meant to be.” I couldn’t agree more.

The wedding reception was held at Wheelers in Harmony, MN. The Bride took special care with the reception details.

Beautiful winter trees and a romantic table for two set just for the Bride & Groom made the dinner feel like a romantic outdoor dinner.

Chris and Mamie enjoyed their first dance as man and wife followed by a special dance for the groom and his mom.

The flowergirl and ringbearer really new how to bust a move! These kids can dance.

Congratulations Mamie & Chris! Best wishes for a wonderful life together.

Romantic New Year’s Eve Wedding
{Inn at Sacred Clay, Lanesboro, MN}

What can I say about Suzanne & Jerome? First, they are 100% through-and-through hopeless romantics; second, they are both wonderful, kind individuals; and third, they are an absolutely perfect match for one another. It was my pleasure to be with them this New Year’s Eve at the Inn at Sacred Clay bed and breakfast outside of Lanesboro, MN as they exchanged vows and celebrated the beginning of their life together. From the wooden wedding bands made of juniper heart wood, to the uniquely crafted vows that the two of them wrote the was truly an expression of their abundant love for each other. I have had a particularly hard time narrowing down my favorites so I hope you enjoy the many images I would like to share with this post.

Kerri & Morgan’s Engagement Photos

It was a treat to finally get to meet Kerri and Morgan last Saturday. They are planning a summer wedding at Berwood Hill Inn. I am excited for the day and can’t wait to photograph the couple in such beautiful surroundings. I am looking forward to the warmth of summer but on Saturday it was pretty chilly so we stayed indoors for our session. Here are a few of my favorites.

Al & Lisa’s beautiful November wedding

Al & Lisa were so sweet a week ago Saturday as they prepared for their wedding. It was obvious how happy the were to finally be committing their lives to one another. The big event was held in a close friends home and was full to the brim with love an laughter. Al & Lisa are total sports nuts, so their rings came down the aisle tied to a mini football and all the guest go special “players cards” to mark their seats. The day was gorgeous, warm for November, and we were able to get out and take pictures by the pond in the back yard. Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

Amy & Mike’s Fall Wedding
{Spring Valley, MN}

I have known Amy forever. She’s a second cousin and I remember having a great time playing with her at family events when I was a child, so I was thrilled when she asked me to take on her wedding photography. What a great day it was, Amy and Mike really know how put on a wedding. The details were stunning. Mike, Amy and Zachary make a beautiful new family and Amy was one amazing looking bride. I am posting a lot of pictures with this entry, I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed taking them.

I love it when things like this present themselves. We were almost done with formal indoor photography for the day when I just happened to look up and notice the beautiful colors on the stone wall in the sanctuary. The stain glass windows were add a magical kind of beauty. So, I got Mike and Amy back up for just a few more photos.

Brent & Melissa’s Fall Engagement Photos

It was a very overcast and rainy day for Brent & Melissa’s session. I wondered at the beginning of the session if we would have to do the entire session in doors. We had a lot of fun with a black and a white backdrop and then checked the weather. We took a gamble and headed outside, and I’m so glad we did. It ended up being the turning point for the weather and it just kept getting better and better. By the end we even had blue skys. Thanks for coming down from Rochester for your session guys! I have so many more great pictures to show you soon.

Tricia & Kenny’s Keller Park Wedding

The weather was simply gorgeous last weekend for Tricia and Kenny’s outdoor wedding at Keller Park in St. Paul. I wandered through the park prior to the bride and groom’s arrival and understood immediately why they had chosen this location. The willow trees, rot-iron bridge, gazebo, and lake were a perfect backdrop for the intimate family affair. The bride’s choice of red roses and lilies were spectacular. I had a wonderful time getting to know the bride and groom, the wedding party and the rest of the family and friends.

After the outdoor ceremony the wedding party, family and friends gathered for a reception and dance. The Legion was tastefully decorated. I loved all the little details including the amazing topsy-turvy wedding cake with more beautiful flowers. One of my favorite shots of the night is when the wedding party started to blow bubbles. . . the whole head table was surrounded with bubbles floating down.

Brad & Alison’s Norwegian and Scottish Wedding

The morning of Brad & Alison’s wedding I woke up to the crash of thunder. A storm was ragging just outside my window. My first thought of the day was about the mid-afternoon wedding. I said a little prayer that we would have at least some time without storms during the day and then went about my day preparing for the special event. As it turns out we received a beautiful day. We had to dodge the occasional rain drop, but some times in life and in marriage you need to get good at “dodging the raindrops” and focusing on celebrating the beautiful. This was truly a day of celebrating the beautiful.

Brad & Alison glowed. Every time they caught sight of one another a huge smile would creep onto their faces. It was beautiful and heartwarming to watch and I felt honored to be a part. Brad & Alison’s family and friends did a gorgeous job with every last detail right down to the delicious Norwegian wedding treats, cake and every single stunning flower arrangement.

One of my very favorite shots of the entire day camp at the very end of my time there. It was literally my last shot of the evening. Alison and her mom were out on the dance floor and just happened to turn towards the camera. “Click”.
